Napoleon Bracy, Jr. was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives on November 2, 2010 and he is currently Chairman of the Alabama Legislative House Black Caucus. He is a proud product of the Mobile County Public School System graduating from Blount High School in 1995 and a 2000 graduate of Dillard University of New Orleans and also received his Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from Pentecostal Bible College of Tuskegee, Alabama in 2014. His political career began in 2004 with the Prichard City Council representing District 3 at the young age of 26. Bracy was reelected to the Prichard City Council in 2008 at the age of 30 and was elected Council President.
Bracy is also a member Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Prince Hall Masonry and 100 Black Men of Greater Mobile. A few of his awards include Humanitarian of the Year Award, Drug Free Mobile Leadership Award, Hometown Hero Award, Mobile Bays Top Forty under 40, Dillard University’s Top Forty under 40, Dillard University’s Lifetime Achievement Award, Alabama State University Board of Trustees, Board member Southeastern Employment & Training Association, Alabama Apprenticeship Council, Gulf States Shipbuilding Consortium, Gulf Coast Diversity and Inclusion Round Table, 2014 Alabama Democratic Legislator of the Year and served as a Democratic National Convention Delegate for President Barack Obama, Secretary Hillary Clinton and Vice President Joe Biden.
Representative Napoleon Bracy, Jr. is named by “Alabama Today” among “32 Powerful and Influential Alabamians to know” and co-owner of Box Owt Outdoor Food Court and Indoor Piano Bar in Downtown Mobile.
Bracy is married to Melody and they have three daughters, Kena, Brooklynn and Camille. The Bracy’s are members of Bethesda Christian Center.
